Caritas Cambodia cooperated with National Committee for Disaster Management (NCDM), and provincial authority provided the humanitarian assistance to the 1,446 displaced families on 6th and 8th February 2011 in Choam Khsant and Kulen district, Preah Vihear province – about 70km from the Cambodian and Thai clash border -- where they have been settling in the evacuation camps in schools, pagodas and under the trees. |

Caritas Cambodia’s humanitarian aids for each suffered family included 25kg of rice, a mosquito net, a blanket, a scarf (kroma), a Sarong, a tent and two sets of clothes. Moreover, to relieve their difficulties Caritas Cambodia has also provided five tanks to supply water to those displaced people in three different refuges until they are able to go back to their houses. |

Most of the refugees are poor farmers and most of the women are wives of the soldiers. All of them are very delighted to get the aids from Caritas Cambodia, Cambodian Red Cross, Council of Ministers and other NGOs.“We are very happy to get the emergency assistances. We are very excited, we smile to see rice, water, bread, instant noodle, blanket, mosquito net, medicine and clothes,” they said. |

“Caritas Cambodia provided the humanitarian aids immediately to those displaced people to reduce their difficulties, especially to deliver emergency needs such as foods, water, and clothe,” said executive director of Caritas Cambodia, Mr. Kim Rattana. “Caritas Cambodia will continue to help those refugees as long as the border clash between Cambodia and Thailand has not ended." |
